Man Killed by Off-Duty IRS Employee, Police Say

An Internal Revenue Service employee shot and killed a man in Sun Valley after a confrontation that apparently started on the Simi Valley Freeway, Los Angeles police said.
A spokesman for the Los Angeles County coroner’s office identified the dead man as Mickey Smith, 21, of Bakersfield.
Details about the shooting--which occurred at about 7:40 p.m. Friday in the 12700 block of Branford Street near Haddon Avenue--remained sketchy Saturday.
Los Angeles Police Lt. Dan Lang said he did not know if the victim, who died at the scene, was armed.
