Man Charged With Rape of Pregnant Woman
A 49-year-old North Hollywood man was charged Tuesday with raping his pregnant girlfriend, causing her to miscarry her 5-month-old fetus, Los Angeles police said.
Cesar Monroy was arrested Saturday after he arrived home drunk about 2 a.m. and forced his girlfriend to have sex with him, Detective Mike Coffey said.
The woman fled and later miscarried the fetus, which died Sunday, Coffey said. The Los Angeles district attorney’s office Tuesday charged Monroy with spousal rape with great bodily harm, the detective said.
The charges could be increased, pending the autopsy, which will determine whether the fetus was viable, police said.
