Scott Salmon; Choreographer, Director for Award Shows

Scott Salmon, 51, director-choreographer for nationally televised Academy Awards and Grammy Awards shows and such Broadway musicals as “La Cage Aux Folles.” Born in Oklahoma City, Salmon was much in demand on both coasts. He also choreographed network television specials such as the “Liberty Weekend” for the renovation of the Statue of Liberty, “The NBC 60th Anniversary Special,” and shows for Steve Martin, David Copperfield and Barbara Mandrell. For the past three years, he had created Easter and Christmas shows for Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Last New Year’s Eve, he produced a show for the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas, and on July 4, 1991, he directed the “Dedication of Mt. Rushmore” in North Dakota with President George Bush and his wife, Barbara. In film, Salmon staged dance sequences for “Torch Song Trilogy,” “Stir Crazy” and “The Jerk.” On Saturday in Northridge of injuries received in an automobile accident.
