WEST LOS ANGELES : Killer Apparently Posed as Clerk at Gas Station

A $25,000 reward is being offered by an oil company for information on the killing of a 29-year-old clerk at a West Los Angeles gas station during a robbery early Thursday in which a suspect apparently posed as a clerk when customers came in, LAPD officers said.

Arco offered the reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the killer or killers of Mahfuzur S.M. Rahman, who was shot several times at the station on West Olympic Boulevard about 4 a.m.

Police Lt. Ross Moen said two truck drivers who knew Rahman from regular visits came into the station to buy cigarettes. They became suspicious when they saw another man behind the counter who said technical problems kept him from being able to make sales.

The phony attendant immediately left the station in a 1978 two-door green Chrysler Cordoba with a light green top, and the truck drivers called police, who found Rahman’s body. The suspect was described as being six feet tall, in his late 30s and weighing 200 pounds. He was thought to be white or Latino.
