An armed bandit made off with $2,000 in cash and $45,000 in personal checks Sunday in a daring daylight robbery at an Agoura hardware store, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said.
The bandit entered the Lumber City store in the 28000 block of Roadside Drive about 5:45 p.m., pointed a gun at the manager and ordered him to open the safe, said Deputy Wayne Encinas.
Witnesses told sheriff’s deputies that after emptying the safe the robber jumped a chain-link fence and drove off in a car parked in front of a neighboring office building. The robber was described as a black man in his 20s, with a goatee. He was wearing a hair net, baggy pants, tennis shoes and a multicolored shirt.
No one was injured in the robbery.
