Two Sentenced to Prison for Chasing, Fatally Stabbing Man in Stanton Street
SANTA ANA — Two men were sentenced to prison Thursday for chasing down and fatally stabbing a man on a Stanton street last summer.
An Orange County Superior Court jury had convicted Christopher James Montoya, 28, of Anaheim and Pascual Richard Albillar, 30, of Phoenix of second-degree murder for the July 16, 1992, stabbing death of 25-year-old Jesus Cruz.
Judge John J. Ryan sentenced Montoya to 21-years-to-life in prison and sentenced Albillar to 15-years-to-life in prison.
Deputy Dist. Atty. Ronald L. Cafferty said Cruz, an Upland resident, got the better of Albillar during a fight earlier in the day, sending Albillar to the hospital with head injuries. Albillar later returned with Montoya to seek revenge.
Montoya chased Cruz down and stabbed him seven times, Cafferty said.
Defense attorneys for the two men could not be reached for comment Thursday.
