GOLF ROUNDUP : Stockton Wins by 9 Strokes
Dave Stockton shot a nine-under-par 63 to win the Senior PGA Tour’s Franklin Quest Championship at Park City, Utah, by nine strokes over Al Geiberger.
Stockton, who started the day at 10 under par, carded eight birdies, one eagle and a lone bogey over the par-72 mountain course. He finished the 54-hole tournament at Park Meadows Golf Club with a 19-under-par 197, while Geiberger, who closed with a 68, wound up with a 10-under 206.
In winning the $75,000 first-place prize for his third victory of the year, Stockton raised his season earnings to $625,699.
Stockton’s winning margin tied the all-time Senior PGA Tour record set last year by Gibby Gilbert at the Southwestern Bell tournament, and his closing 63 set a course record at Park Meadows.
