The Police and Fire departments’ 17th annual vehicle display show this month will include several safety exhibits and a SWAT team demonstration.

Designed in part to provide the community with safety education, the free show on Aug. 28 also will feature a live band and Asian and Mexican folk dancing. Children’s entertainment will include a puppet show and Barney the Talking Police Car, Police Lt. Mike Foote said.

“This is to show the public a different side of the Police Department and Fire Department that they’re not used to seeing,” Foote said.

Antique fire and police cars will be displayed, life-saving demonstrations will be given and there will be booths offering information on drug and alcohol treatment programs. Members of the U.S. Marine Corps, California National Guard and Orange County Search and Rescue will also attend the event to meet the public. Children can get their photos taken with police dogs and motorcycles and also can be fingerprinted free, Foote said.

The show will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the shopping center on the southwest corner of Bristol Street and MacArthur Boulevard.
