Valley Role on CRA Board Is Good News

Share

* The new Valley influence on the Community Redevelopment Agency board is a breath of fresh air. It does not matter much if Stanley Hirsch owns property in the downtown project since, under the terms of the Bernardi lawsuit settlement, this is the last year of the project, except for a little housing next year and repayment of bonds.

Bobbi Feidler has had many years of experience on the school board and in Congress devoted to insuring the taxpayers get their money’s worth from government. CRAs in California are taking several million dollars annually away from the schools and she will be able to question the Los Angeles CRA’s policy of diverting school money to domestic and foreign developers. Maybe she can get a report on exactly how many millions of dollars per year the L. A. CRA is taking away from the city fire and police departments, county health and other services.

I expect these appointees will help all the people of our city, not the few special interests on the CRA gravy train who may say “divisive.” Wouldn’t it be nice if the new board would stop CRA from taking county money so it did not have to close hospitals, libraries and parks and try to impose new benefit assessment taxes and other fees?
