From Times Staff and Wire Reports

A man was given a sentence of 15 years to life in prison Thursday for killing a close friend of singer Frank Sinatra in a drunk-driving accident. Jeffrey Perrotte, 30, was convicted last month of second-degree murder in the death of Jilly Rizzo, a former restaurateur and a friend of Sinatra for more than 30 years. Rizzo died on his 75th birthday, May 6, 1992, in a fiery collision outside the Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage. Prosecutors said Perrotte was speeding and under the influence of alcohol when he broadsided Rizzo’s Jaguar. Riverside County Superior Court Judge Richard Lee also ordered Perrotte to serve two years for a probation violation.
