Commission Rules Butler Must Take Tests Before Bouts
Ten Goose Boxing heavyweight Lionel Butler will be permitted to box again in California provided he passes a drug test before every fight.
The California Athletic Commission voted Friday in a meeting in Los Angeles to allow Butler’s six-month suspension to run out Monday. Butler was suspended in March after testing positive for marijuana.
“If he tests positive once, we’ll revoke his license for good,” said Richard DeCuir, CAC executive officer.
Butler won 12 consecutive fights before his suspension.
