EAST LOS ANGELES : Health Tests, Classes on Cardiovascular Ills

White Memorial Medical Center has scheduled a class to educate seniors citizens and care givers about cardiovascular disease and will offer tests for those at risk for the condition.
The medical center will offer cholesterol, blood pressure and blood glucose screenings from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday at the Privilege Plus Senior Resource Center, 1720 Brooklyn Ave.
Privilege Plus will hold a hypertension class from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday in the hospital’s Comprehensive Care Classroom to help individuals identify the warning signs of the condition.
The program will outline simple lifestyle improvements in diet and exercise to help control high blood pressure.
Privilege Plus was created by the medical center to supplement its senior health care services. It is a free membership club for people 55 and older that provides educational activities and discounts at the hospital and at neighborhood merchants.
The screenings and seminar are free. Reservations are required.
