Man Sought in Fatal Accident Surrenders
A Panorama City man wanted for questioning in a North Hills hit-and-run accident that killed an Arleta bicyclist turned himself in Monday, authorities said.
Authorities said Aaron Donn, 41, told investigators that he “blacked out” during the accident that resulted in the death of Loreto Ramirez Navarro, 52, who was riding a 10-speed bike on Sepulveda Boulevard near Rayen Street about 7:40 a.m. Sunday.
Navarro was taken to Kaiser Hospital Medical Center in Panorama City, where he died of head injuries at 11:55 a.m.
Detective Don Ballente of the LAPD’s Valley Traffic Division said Donn told police that he had not been drinking before the accident.
Donn, who walked into the Valley traffic station about noon on Monday, was booked on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter at the Van Nuys jail and held on $25,000 bail, Ballente said.
Witnesses told police that whoever hit the bicyclist stopped, walked back to the scene of the accident and stood over the victim’s body.
Witnesses gave police the license plate number of the car and provided a description of the driver.
