Mammoth Area to Get Major Plant
Eastern Sierra waters will receive a total of 4,500 rainbow trout in the three- to five-pound class, courtesy of the Department of Fish and Game, which is trying to get rid of “excess” brood stock.
“This is our big end-of-the-season bang,” said Chris Boone, manager of the DFG’s Hot Creek hatchery at Mammoth. “By Labor Day, there ought to be fish everywhere.”
Among waters to be planted are the West Walker River, Bridgeport Reservoir, Lundy Lake, Twin Lakes Bridgeport, June Loop lakes, Ellery Lake, Tioga Lake, Owens River, Convict Lake and Twin Lakes Mammoth.
