Highland Park : Solar Car on View at School
A solar race car will be showcased today at the Loreto Street Elementary School as part of Solar-Eagle Day.
Los Angeles City Councilman Mike Hernandez will discuss energy sources other than petroleum products, such as gasoline.
Solar-Eagle, the race car built by Cal State Los Angeles, will be showcased at 10, 10:40 and 11:20 a.m. to the 600 students in kindergarten through sixth grade. Their parents are also invited to the viewing at 3408 Arroyo Seco Ave.
The race car, which can travel up to 85 m.p.h., placed fourth in the national race and 10th in the world race in 1992.
