Groundbreaking Set at St. Timothy

St. Timothy Catholic Community in Laguna Niguel will celebrate the official beginning of the building of its new church with a groundbreaking ceremony Sunday at 1:30 p.m. Guests from the archdiocese, Laguna Niguel clergymen representing other denominations and local dignitaries will participate.

Visitors are welcome. Refreshments will be served and a Dixieland band will perform. The ceremony will be on the grounds at the present worship site at 29102 Crown Valley Parkway, Laguna Niguel. Information: (714) 495-4862.

Beginning Tuesday, South Coast Community Church in Irvine will present a four-week series for men called “How to be the Spiritual Leader in Your Home.” The class will be taught by Pete McKenzie, pastor to family ministries at the church, and will meet Tuesdays at 7 p.m. in Room 202.

On Wednesday, the Christian musical group Brush Arbor will give a free concert at 7 p.m. in the church auditorium. Ice cream will be served after the concert.

The “Beginning Again” divorce recovery workshop will be offered by the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, with the first session meeting Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Temple Beth Emet in Anaheim has scheduled three open houses for prospective members, with the first one on Sunday from 10 a.m. to noon. New members who enroll their children in the religious school will not have to pay temple dues for one year. Only religious school and building fund charges will apply.

Calvary Chapel of Rancho Santa Margarita will present a free showing of the film “Jesus” on Sept. 18. The re-enactment of the life of Jesus was filmed entirely on location in the Holy Land and the movie has been shown all over the world.

The movie can be seen at 7 p.m. in the Rancho Santa Margarita Lake amphitheater. At 5:30 the Calvary Chapel Rancho Santa Margarita Praise Band will entertain and free hot dogs and punch will be served. It is suggested that everyone bring a blanket to sit on.
