After attempting several seasons of color, designers here and abroad have returned to the elegance of basic black for virtually all of their fall and winter fashions. Perhaps they’re making a statement about the noir ‘90s. Or just realizing that, while sophisticated women sometimes flirt with color, they ultimately prefer the drama of black.
