PRO FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : RAMS : Boykin Stays, Kors Gone
The Rams got safety R.J. Kors away from the Jets this past off-season with a two-year, $1.1-million offer sheet.
When the Jets failed to match the Rams’ offer, Kors moved west.
On Monday they cut him, and on Tuesday they called him back to tell him they weren’t interested in re-signing him.
The Rams kept Deral Boykin, a sixth-round draft choice, in place of Kors, who failed to make any significant plays during the exhibition season.
“We got eight (defensive backs),” Coach Chuck Knox said. “It was just a question of whether we were going to go with Boykin, a young guy, or R.J.” Boykin will be 23 tomorrow; Kors is 27.

The Rams added four players to their practice squad: center Brad Fichtel, guard Chuck Belin, quarterback Jamie Martin and cornerback Courtney Griffin.

Jerome Bettis (ankle), linebacker Shane Conlan (groin), receiver Henry Ellard (ankle) and tackle Jackie Slater (toe) have been listed as probable for Sunday’s regular-season opener with Green Bay in Milwaukee. Wide receiver Todd Kinchen (knee) and linebacker Leon White (hamstring) are questionable and David Lang (knee) is out.
