GLENDALE : 30 Head Start Staff Members Laid Off
The organization that oversees Head Start in Glendale has severed its ties to the preschool program, laying off more than 30 staff members at two sites and postponing classes indefinitely, officials said Friday.
Child and Family Services of Echo Park, which has supervised Head Start in Glendale since 1985, made the decision after a board of directors meeting Monday.
Family Services’ 19 board members agreed to keep three Head Start staff members on the payroll until federal officials find an interim agency to operate the preschool, which serves children ages 3 1/2 to 5.
