SIMI VALLEY : Ride Sharers Find Partners for Commutes
Nearly 500 workers from 18 businesses gathered outside the Schlumberger Technologies plant in Simi Valley on Wednesday in a bid to find ride-share partners.
About 350 attendees were able to locate a driving partner at the lunchtime event that included prizes, music, entertainment and food, said Team Rideshare spokeswoman Pam Hill.
“It went really well. It was a very enthusiastic crowd,” Hill said. This is the third such gathering in Ventura County sponsored by Team Rideshare, she said, and all three have matched up at least 300 commuters who agree to ride together on Thursdays.
Wearing buttons that were color-coded based on where they live, workers Wednesday mingled through the crowd and sought to identify neighbors to share their drive to work.
Each pair of ride sharers were given Team Rideshare T-shirts, Hill said.
