Coach: Roger Nava (first year).
1992: Sunset League champions, Southern Section Division I-AA runners-up; eighth place at State Division I championships.
Key returners: Federico Duran, Sr.; Juan Medrano, Sr.; Federico Morales, Sr.; Luis Ortiz, Sr.; Juan Zaragoza, Sr.
Key newcomers: Juan Chavez, Jr; Ivan Hernandez, Sr; Wedseslado Morales, So.
Outlook: Coach Nava’s first team is expected to exceed the accomplishments of last year’s squad, which won the Sunset League title and finished second in the Southern Section Division I-AA meet. Slated as the division’s clear favorite this year, the Saints should duel Thousand Oaks for the State title. Nava returns a powerful top-five group composed of all seniors. Duran, who won the Sunset League individual title as a junior, was 40th in the State finals. Morales and Zaragoza also garnered all-league honors as juniors. Medrano and Ortiz complete a very experienced top five for the Saints. Ortiz has been hampered in the early season by a soccer injury, but is expected to be at full strength shortly.
