CAMARILLO : Youth Suspected in Robbery Is Arrested

Share

A Camarillo teen-ager was arrested early Thursday after being identified as a suspect in an armed robbery at a gas station mini-mart several hours earlier, sheriff’s deputies said.

The robbery occurred at Broughton’s Mobil Mart, 4735 E. Pleasant Valley Road, around 1:22 a.m. The night clerk told deputies two males entered the store, displayed a knife and took about $40 cash from the register. The pair then ran from the store.

Two hours later, a sheriff’s deputy spotted a 17-year-old youth who matched the description of one of the suspects. The teen-ager was walking along Santa Rosa Road in Camarillo, across California 101 from Broughton’s.

The clerk from the store then identified the youth as the robber who had brandished the knife, Sheriff’s Sgt. Mike Barnes said.

The youth, whose name was not released because of his age, was then arrested and booked at Juvenile Hall. Detectives are still looking for the second youth, the knife and the $40, Barnes said.
