PRO FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : RAMS : Injury Will Limit Henley

Darryl Henley, a starting cornerback, practiced a little Thursday and said later his duty Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers will probably be confined to nickel situations.

Henley suffered a torn pectoral muscle on the first play of Sunday’s game against Green Bay but went on to play almost one-handed through the remainder of the half before leaving the game.

“Toward the end of the half it got really sore,” Henley said. “If the game had stayed close, though, I would have kept playing.

“It was definitely tore up because I felt it, but they told me it couldn’t get any worse and I wouldn’t be able to tear the biggest (muscle). I just tried to stick in there as long as I could.”

The Rams have listed Henley as “probable” for Sunday’s game, but Steve Israel has been working in his place.

Coach Chuck Knox expects middle linebacker Shane Conlan to play against the Steelers, although a groin injury has kept Conlan from practicing all week.

Outside linebacker Henry Rolling, sidelined because of a broken thumb, will be replaced by Chris Martin.

“Rolling was probably playing better than any linebacker we had in there,” Knox said. “That puts a lot of pressure on your defense.”
