Share

A 25-acre brush fire near the exclusive Wood Ranch neighborhood in Simi Valley briefly threatened homes Wednesday afternoon before Ventura County Fire Department crews extinguished the blaze, officials said.

Six engine companies, a helicopter and more than 35 county firefighters responded to the Circle Knoll and Krenwinkle Court neighborhood of Wood Ranch about 2:55 p.m. Wednesday, fire officials said.

The county firefighters also were joined by dozens of California Department of Forestry crew members in extinguishing the fire, which was limited to hillside grasslands, officials said.

No one was injured. Officials were unable on Wednesday to say what might have ignited the fire.

It took firefighting crews nearly 45 minutes to contain the blaze, a Fire Department spokeswoman said.
