“As the World Turns” has signed veteran soap actor Nicolas Coster to play the role of Eduardo Grimaldi this November. Eduardo is described as a “charming international adventurer” and the cousin of Damian Grimaldi, played by Paolo Seganti. It also looks as though Eduardo will become a man about town and attract the attention of some of Oakdale’s more affluent ladies.
This is the actor’s second stint on “World.” He played the role of John Eldridge in 1966 and later was the same character in “Our Private World,” a prime-time spinoff of the soap.
Coster last appeared on the soap scene as Lionel Lockridge on “Santa Barbara” (1984-92), a stretch that included several exits and returns for the actor. His other soap roles include Matt Steele on “Young Dr. Malone” (1962-63), Paul Britton on “The Secret Storm” (1964, 1968-69), Robert Delaney on “Somerset” (1970-72) and the same character on “Another World” (1972, 1976-80), and Anthony Makana on “One Life to Live” (1983-84).
On nighttime TV Coster has guest-starred on “L.A. Law,” “thirtysomething,” “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” “Murder, She Wrote” and “Law & Order.”
He has a long list of film and theater credits, and won the Dramalogue Award for the Los Angeles productions of “Blood Knots” and “Otherwise Engaged.”
Michael Sabatino is leaving the role of Lawrence Alamain on “Days of Our Lives” to play a world-famous fashion designer on “The Bold and the Beautiful.” No character name was available at press time, but it was mentioned that he would not be playing Clark Garrison (formerly Daniel McVicar). In the storyline, Sabatino will have scenes with Bobbie Eakes (Macy Forrester).
Former daytimer Ian Buchanan, (Duke Lavery on “General Hospital” 1986-89), will be creating the role of James Warwick on “Bold.” Buchanan’s character, slated to air Sept. 30., will be working for Forrester Designs. Since leaving “General Hopsital,” Buchanan has appeared on the series “The Garry Shandling Show,” “Twin Peaks” and “On the Air.”
