A 27-year-old Oxnard woman was killed on California 126 outside Piru early Sunday when her car drifted across the double yellow line and slammed head-on into an oncoming vehicle, officials said.

Leann Ray, who was traveling alone, died instantly as a result of the collision, which occurred about 1 a.m. just east of Fish Hatchery Road, the California Highway Patrol said. Ray’s car collided with a vehicle carrying seven people, all of whom suffered minor injuries, the CHP said.

Olga Velasco, the 37-year-old Oxnard woman who was driving the second vehicle, was not to blame for the crash, the CHP said. Six passengers, including four children, were inside Velasco’s Chevrolet Blazer, the CHP said.

Also injured in the crash were Velasco’s passengers, including Pedro Estrada, 53, of Oxnard; Renee Velasco, 11, of Piru; Raquel Velasco, 12, of Oxnard; Javier Velasco Jr., 3, of Oxnard; Olga Velasco, 7, of Oxnard; and Javier Velasco, 41, also of Oxnard, the CHP said.
