IN BRIEF : Maurice Sendak to Discuss New Book

Share

Maurice Sendak, children’s author and illustrator of “Where the Wild Things Are” and many other titles, will discuss his new book, “We Are All in the Dumps with Jack and Guy,” on Sept. 29 at 2 p.m. in the University of Southern California’s Andrus Gerontology Center Auditorium.

In his latest work, Sendak blends two classic English nursery rhymes--”We Are All in the Dumps” and “Jack and Guy”--to create a classic tale of good versus evil, but he contemporizes the drama with a story line that includes such issues as homelessness, AIDS, world hunger and corporate greed.

The discussion, free and open to the public, is sponsored by the USC Libraries’ department of special collections. Parking is $6. Visitors should enter at the campus at Gate 1 on Exposition Boulevard.
