Southern California Christian scored four times in the first half, enough to relax in the second half of its 28-15 victory over Francis Parker on Friday at Valley Christian High.

The Flames (1-1), recovered Francis Parker’s fumble on the first play of the first quarter, and the result was a seven play, 25-yard scoring drive that ate up almost four minutes and ended with quarterback Boomer Felton’s one-yard touchdown dive.

Gared Clorfeine took the kickoff and ran 88 yards down the right sideline for the first touchdown for Francis Parker (0-2).

Southern California Christian’s next scored on a one-yard run by junior Ron Wood. Wood carried the ball 26 times for 87 yards.

With 1:31 left in the second quarter, Matt Caballero intercepted a Curtis Calvin’s pass at the Parker 40 and returned it for a touchdown. Calvin threw three interceptions and completed four passes in 20 attempts.

Chris Aurbach recovered a fumble for the Lancers on the seven-yard line, went in for the score on the next play, and caught the two-point conversion pass.

After taking over on downs, Felton threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to Caballero with 12 seconds left in the half.

This is Francis Parker’s first year of 11-man football. Twenty players suited up from a 30-man roster. But Southern California Christian went one better, suiting only 14 of the 16 players.
