Greminger Gets OK After Tests for Pains in His Chest

Agoura High football Coach Frank Greminger, who missed Thursday night’s game at Santa Barbara because of chest pains, said he is OK and expects to be back at practice Monday.

Greminger, 55, who said he had not missed a game during his 24 years at Agoura, experienced pain earlier in the week after jogging. On Thursday, he visited his doctor, who sent the coach to a hospital for a series of tests.

Greminger said doctors believe the pain was caused by an embolism, an air bubble within a blood vessel.

“I check out OK at this point,” Greminger said from his home Friday morning. “I’m going back to the doctor (today) for a treadmill (test). I hadn’t felt that kind of pain before up there. I wanted to be sure I wasn’t having a heart attack. I thought I would just have an EKG (test) and then I’d make the game.”

Agoura lost to Santa Barbara, 19-14, dropping the Chargers to 1-2.

Greminger, whose record at Agoura is 150-95-3, announced last spring that he would retire after the season. However, the coach said he is reconsidering.
