Zambia, still recovering from a plane crash that killed 18 of its players on April 28, routed Senegal, 4-0, at Lusaka, Zambia, and moved within one point of qualifying for the 1994 World Cup. Zambia (2-0-1) leads Africa Group B with five points, one more than Morocco (2-1). Zambia needs a tie or a victory when the teams play Oct. 10 at Casablanca, Morocco.

College Football
West Virginia broke into the Top 25, while Stanford dropped out of the Associated Press college football poll after its second loss. West Virginia (3-0) was ranked 25th after beating Missouri, 35-3. Stanford (2-2), 17th last week, fell out of the poll after losing to UCLA, 28-25.
