KNBC in Cable Dispute: KNBC has begun airing spots saying that subscribers to Century Cable may not receive NBC and KNBC programming starting next week because of an impasse in the retransmission consent agreement between the broadcaster and the cable company. Reed Manville, KNBC’s general manager, said he hopes the brief spots will persuade Century Cable subscribers to pressure the company to return to the negotiating table. As part of the new cable law, local TV broadcasters were granted the right to seek payment for the use of their broadcast signal by cable operators. Century serves portions of West Los Angeles, the San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles and Eagle Rock.
