BASEBALL DAILY REPORT : DODGERS : Baker’s Rotation Not Set in Stone
The Giants have listed Salomon Torres to pitch Sunday’s game, but Manager Dusty Baker said he is leaving it open. “It will possibly be (Jim) Deshaies, possibly (Scott) Sanderson, possibly everybody, plus Torres and (Dave) Burba. It all depends, I might go to the bullpen.”

Baker said Robby Thompson, who was hit in the left cheek by a pitch by San Diego’s Trevor Hoffman Friday night, is “doubtful” to return during this series.

When and if Darryl Strawberry returns to the Dodgers, it could be as a left fielder. Fred Claire, Dodger executive vice president, recently spent a couple of days with Strawberry at the club’s Arizona Instructional League and said that if Strawberry is injury-free and productive, he could be back next season.
“Then there would be no reason why he cannot play right field or left field for the Dodgers,” Claire said. “I am not ruling that out, but I am not going to rule him in the 1994 starting lineup. I will not say Darryl will not be a member of the team, I have never said that. What I have said is that he will tell us. “
