The Mighty Ducks’ first visit to Canada ended in a 2-2 tie with the Vancouver Canucks in front of 13,570 Friday night at Pacific Coliseum.

The Ducks, playing their first road exhibition game, held a 2-1 lead with about eight minutes remaining in the third period, but an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Anatoli Semenov and a bench minor on Coach Ron Wilson, both for arguing with referee Dave Jackson, gave Vancouver a two-man advantage. With 11 seconds left in the power play, Greg Adams scored on a rebound to tie the score at 13:51 of the third.

Defenseman Bill Houlder had given the Ducks a 2-1 lead at 15:18 of the second with an unassisted goal after intercepting a pass in Vancouver’s zone and putting it in the net from the slot.

The Ducks gave up an unassisted goal in the first period when Randy Ladouceur’s pass from behind his net was picked off by center Cliff Ronning, who scored at 7:43.

Duck left wing Tim Sweeney tied the score at 1:52 of the second after right wing Robin Bawa got a rebound on the left side.

Duck goaltender Guy Hebert had 31 saves.
