GIVING EDITORS THE NEEDLE

In Anna Mundow’s review of the novel “Sister” (Book Review, August 29) we find the sentence: “Here again is the drifter from the Plains sewing destruction in lush valleys, the longer being asked, “ ‘Who are you?’

“Sewing destruction.’ ”

Clearly, the phrase Mundow was trying to use was “sowing destruction,” meaning “inculcating or spreading destruction.” Sewing has to do with needles and thread.
