Moore Wins Three Races at Ventura

Oak Park’s Jim Moore recorded three victories Saturday night at Ventura Raceway, capped by a triumph in the 15-lap Street Stock race.

Moore edged James Weston and maintains a 115-point lead with two racing days remaining for stock cars at the facility.

Auto racing: The winner of Saturday night’s 15-lap Street Stock main event at Ventura Raceway was incorrectly identified in Sunday’s edition. The driver was Paul Moore of Oak View.

Moore picked up wins in an IMCA heat race and the Street Stock trophy dash.

Camarillo’s Mira Cook won the 20-lap oval Pony Stock main event and closed to within 20 points of leader Scott Boucher Oak View.

Ventura’s Gary Swenson won the 20-lap Mini Stock main event. Swenson’s win puts him within striking distance (100 points) of leader Gary Hubert of Camarillo.

Lancaster driver Richard Connors won the Dwarf main event. Rob Hansen of Simi Valley, who has dominated the Dwarf field at Ventura with wins in eight of 16 main events, dropped out midway through the race.

Bakersfield’s Scott Pounds won the IMCA main event. Leonard Rowe of Camarillo claimed an IMCA heat race.

Bruce Dunson of Santa Barbara won the Pony Stock trophy dash.

James Weston of Santa Barbara and Tom Stephens of Ventura each won Street Stock heat races.

Boucher won a Pony heat race, as did his mother, Helen.

Hansen won a Dwarf heat race, along with Connors.

Port Hueneme’s Joe Silva and Ventura’s Chris Raschke each won Mini Stock heat races.
