Cherrington rushed for 850 yards and one touchdown last season as a sophomore, and Santa Ana Valley won only three games. Times have changed. Friday, Cherrington rushed for 327 yards and four touchdowns in 27 carries as the Falcons beat Dana Hills, 34-20, to win their third game in four attempts. It was the eighth-best rushing performance in county history. Cherrington scored on runs of 69, 53, 19 and 65 yards and now has gained 656 yards and scored nine touchdowns. “He had an incredible night and he’s going to have an incredible year,” Falcon Coach Scott Orloff said.

Other notables:

* Reggie Davis, Brethren Christian, passed for 245 yards and four touchdowns and scored two other touchdowns in a 41-6 victory over Whittier La Serna.

* Mike Good, Los Alamitos, passed for 355 yards and a school-record six touchdowns in a 48-26 victory over Palmdale.

* Grant Pearsall, Villa Park, had 303 all-purpose yards and scored four touchdowns in a 37-12 victory over Loara.

* Brent Stoll, El Toro, scored three goals in El Toro’s 11-8 victory over San Clemente in the title game of the Villa Park water polo tournament.
