Coliseum Delays Luxury Boxes

Share

The Coliseum will delay building luxury boxes until 1995 and possibly later because of the difficulty of marketing the boxes and financing the renovation in the present economy, a Coliseum official said Tuesday.

Don Webb, project manager of this year’s $15 million renovation, which included lowering the field and building new restrooms, said the Coliseum will construct new concession stands next year as well as new scoreboards.

Another source said the Coliseum Commission has enough money to finance renovation of concessions stands at the Sports Arena. Webb said building the luxury boxes would require more money than the commission has and probably entail a major new marketing campaign to ensure there would be adequate purchases.
