Tank Truck Leak Shuts Freeway Ramp
Diesel fuel from a leaking tanker truck forced the closure of a San Diego Freeway off-ramp Monday, Westminster fire officials said.
California Highway Patrol officers traced the leaking fuel from Bolsa Chica Road back onto the freeway and to a spot where they believe a tire fragment thrown up from the road punctured the tanker before it exited the freeway onto Bolsa Chica.
Firefighters and Caltrans workers poured sawdust and sand on Bolsa Chica to soak up the fuel, and then called in a sweeper to remove the material. Several trucks and engines, along with a Hazmat, unit helped clean up the 2-mile-long spill.
