Police identified two men Wednesday who were fatally shot in two separate robberies Tuesday night.

David P. Marshall, 51, a financial consultant in Santa Ana, was found about 9 p.m. on a sidewalk in the 100 block of South Magnolia Street with a gunshot wound to his chest, Sgt. Steve Rodig said.

Marshall died shortly after being taken to the West Anaheim Medical Center.

Police have no suspects in that slaying, Rodig said. Officers are investigating it as a robbery, although they don’t know yet if anything was taken, he said.

In the second shooting, two men entered La Taverna bar in the 700 block of North Anaheim Boulevard about 11:45 p.m. and tried to rob the business, police said.

During the attack, one of the men shot Pedro Mendoza, 39, of Anaheim in the chest and a woman sitting with him in the arm, then fled through the front door.

The woman was treated for her wound at Martin Luther Hospital and released several hours later. Police did not identify her for safety reasons.

“She’s scared to death,” Rodig said.

No arrests had been made in the case by Wednesday evening.

La Taverna was open for business Wednesday. A bartender who did not want to identify himself said Mendoza had been a regular customer for nearly two years. The bartender said he did not witness the shooting.
