Here are some good hotel discount deals currently being offered to seniors:

Aston Hotels in Hawaii has reduced the age limit of its Sun Club program from 62 to 55. The program includes not only a 20% discount off its regular published rates, but also a free day’s use of a Budget rental car--with unlimited mileage--for each night’s stay. Aston has 30 lodgings in Hawaii, all condominiums with fully equipped kitchens. Children up to age 18 can stay in rooms at no extra charge.

The discounted nightly rate for the Aston Kaanapali Shores on Maui is $127 for a one-bedroom, one-bath suite with queen-size sofa bed in the living room, plus rental car; regular rate is $159. At the Aston Island Colony in Waikiki, seniors pay $54 for a standard double room with refrigerator, down from the regular rate of $67. Rates are valid until Dec. 22. The popular chain of Red Lion Inns offers a year-round 20% discount to seniors who are members of AARP, Mature Outlook or other recognized senior organizations. Depending on the location (rates tend to be higher, for example, in California), nightly rates range from $60 to $80, including the discount. There are 55 Red Lion Inns located in 10 Western U.S. states. Red Lion also offers a Value Meals program that is available for seniors from lunchtime until closing. Meals include soup or salad, full entree, beverage and dessert. Complete dinner prices range from $5.95 to $9.95.

There are 12 Red Lion Inns in California, 14 in Oregon, 14 in Washington and others in Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nebraska, Texas and Utah. Seniors who enjoy golf or tennis and are planning to spend some time in Florida can get their fill of either or both sports at the Indian River Plantation Beach Resort, which is on the Atlantic Coast about a two-hour drive north of Miami, or 2 1/2 hours south of Orlando. A special offer for seniors runs from Sunday through Thursday nights, with a minimum two-night stay. The offer is valid until Dec. 18.

The package includes room plus unlimited golf, including cart, or unlimited tennis court time for $99 per night for two persons; regular minimum room rate is $150 per night, and golf fees are $34. The price of $59 per person per night ($118 per couple) includes one night in a one-bedroom townhouse, full breakfast and two rounds of golf (the course is nine holes), with use of electric cart. The luxurious Dana Point Resort, just south of Laguna Beach, is offering a big discount on its garden view rooms until Dec. 30. The regular minimum room rate, including two double beds, is $170 per night, reduced to $78 per night for seniors who are members of AARP or others over age 60.
