Rancho Santiago, So.
Wrestling / 134 pounds
Niedringhaus came to Rancho Santiago from Edison High with hopes of winning a State title. He got close last season, finishing second and earning All-American honors. He also was selected to the All-South Coast Conference team. He is considered one of the top wrestlers in his weight class and staked his claim to the top spot last weekend when he beat No. 1-ranked Detren Gant of Fresno, 13-9, to win the 134-pound division at the Cerritos Tournament. Niedringhaus was named the tournament’s outstanding wrestler.
Other notables:
* Mike Bolster of Golden West won the heavyweight division at the Cerritos wrestling tournament.
* Anthoni Davis, a defensive back from Orange Coast, had an interception and helped blocked a punt in the 34-6 victory over Rancho Santiago.
