Jason Hartman, a standout basketball player at Thousand Oaks High, has committed to play next season at Washington, his father said Thursday night.

Dean Hartman said his son will sign a letter of intent with the Huskies during the early signing period, which begins Nov. 10. Jason, who was unavailable for comment, chose the Huskies over Loyola Marymount, Dean said.

Hartman, a 6-foot-7, 230-pound forward, helped the Lancers to the Marmonte League title last season.

As a junior, Hartman had averages of 14.1 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists. An all-league selection, he named All-Ventura County by The Times.

Alex Lopez, Campbell Hall’s 6-11 center, also is believed to be considering Washington. Hartman and Lopez are friends and were teammates on a summer developmental team.
