ANAHEIM — Paul Waldrop passed for 176 yards and three touchdowns to lead Savanna to a 51-7 Orange League victory over Magnolia at Handel Stadium.
The Rebels, celebrating homecoming, took a 35-0 halftime lead. Rani Cohouch, a senior receiver, scored on catches of 23, 21, and 32 yards.
Cohouch caught seven passes for 131 yards. Waldrop was 12 of 16 for 176 yards.
“Cohouch is an outstanding receiver--good hands and great moves with the ball,” said Savanna Coach Fred DiPalma.
“Tonight, his patterns came up and we went with him with some good success.”
Savanna entered the game looking to avenge last week’s league loss to Western.
“This was a big game for us,” DiPalma said. “We needed to get back in the win column and play mistake-free ball.”
The Rebels did just that, rolling up 232 total yards of offense in the first half.
The defense limited Magnolia to 68 total yards in the first half.
Magnolia avoided a shutout when quarterback Robert Nicols scored on a 19-yard touchdown run with 3:09 remaining in the game.
