Share

An armed robber held up a bank branch in Simi Valley on Tuesday and escaped with a small amount of cash, authorities said.

The robber entered the Bank of A. Levy branch on Los Angeles Avenue about noon, pulled out an automatic handgun and demanded money from a teller, said FBI Special Agent Gary Auer.

Dressed in a black T-shirt and dark slacks, the robber appeared to be about 30 years old, between 5 feet, 6 inches and 5 feet, 8 inches tall with a slim build, Auer said. He escaped with a small amount of cash, said Simi Valley Sgt. Arch Morgan.

While the robber is not suspected in any other Ventura County robberies, Auer said he matches the description of a suspect wanted for bank robberies in the Los Angeles area.

The bank robbery was the 42nd of the year in Ventura County, slightly more than half the total of 82 that was reported by the same date last year, Auer said.
