No. 25 Kansas State defeated 14th-ranked Oklahoma for the first time in 23 tries, 21-7, Saturday at Manhattan, Kan.

Kansas State, which made the latest poll for the first time since 1970, has the worst of its schedule behind it and could finish 9-1-1 by winning its last three games against Iowa State, Missouri and Oklahoma State.

Oklahoma, 6-2 overall and 2-2 in the Big Eight, fumbled eight times and lost three. It also probably lost all hope for the Orange Bowl.

Chad May passed for two touchdowns and ran for a third. May completed eight of 11 passes for 125 yards during the third quarter and directed two scoring drives. His two-yard run with 2:16 left in the quarter put the Wildcats ahead 21-0.

Missouri 37, Iowa State 34--Kyle Pooler kicked a 40-yard field goal as time expired to give the Tigers a Big Eight victory at Columbia, Mo.

Ty Stewart of Iowa State (2-6, 1-3) tied the score with his fourth field goal of the game, a 25-yarder with 39 seconds left.

Jeff Handy drove Missouri (3-4-1, 2-2) quickly downfield after taking over at 24 with 36 seconds to play to set up Pooler’s game-winning field goal.

Kansas 13, Oklahoma State 6--Kansas used a fake field-goal attempt midway through the fourth quarter to set up the game’s only touchdown, then stopped Oklahoma State on two late drives at Stillwater, Okla.

Kansas (4-5, 2-2) scored the game-winner on a one-yard run by fullback Chris Powell four plays after the fake in which holder Van Davis pitched to Costello Good, who cut in front of him and went for eight yards and a first down.
