Northridge School
* On Sept. 19 The Times printed an expose about middle school reform (“Hard Lessons”). Many teachers from Northridge Middle School feel the article overlooked the wonderful things teachers and support staff are doing both in and out of the classroom, but most of the article as printed was indeed accurate.
The successful education of a child is truly a collaborative effort that involves the parents, children, teachers, support staff and administrators. If any of these participants cannot or will not accept their share of the responsibility, the entire process is doomed to fail. The teaching staff at Northridge cannot possibly be expected to shoulder 100% of that responsibility, when faced with a principal who cannot and will not accept her share of the responsibility for educating our students.
Until such time when Beryl Ward is willing to participate and communicate with the staff in an open and constructive manner, the students at Northridge will continue to be truly “caught in the middle.”
