Helping to Keep Moorpark Green

Share

* The Environmental Coalition has been unduly criticized the last several weeks by some of the members of the Moorpark City Council.

This dedicated group has volunteered endless hours and their own money at times to work on several projects. Some of these projects have included: leading community awareness hikes in Happy Camp, working with the Rotary Club to establish a children’s nature trail in Happy Camp, organizing an Arroyo Simi Clean Up Day in Simi Valley, reviewing environmental impact reports and drafting response letters on proposed development that affects local areas.

As a Moorpark citizen, I am grateful that the Environmental Coalition has such devoted and concerned individuals that take the time to attend lengthy City Council meetings and research future development proposals that could take away the beautiful hills and natural habitat that we enjoy.

How dare the City Council members state that they have been “hoodwinked” and “lied to.” Please, all these disputed job descriptions were clearly outlined in the grant.

Apparently, City Council members Scott Montgomery, John Wozniak, and Paul Lawrason didn’t take the time to thoroughly read all of the grant. Now there is a frightening thought. What else haven’t they taken the time to read?
