MOORPARK : Parolee Arrested in Rape of Girl, 12
A Moorpark man paroled from federal prison 10 days ago was arrested Monday on suspicion of raping a 12-year-old girl who was on her way home from school, a spokesman for the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department said.
Sheriff’s deputies arrested Robert Magdaleno, 22, six hours after the incident, which occurred at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Sheriff’s Detective Bob Le May said. Magdaleno told authorities that he had recently been paroled after serving 16 months for burglary.
Deputies said the girl, who knew Magdaleno slightly, was approached by him as she was walking home from school. The girl told deputies that Magdaleno threatened her and forced her to a newly constructed, unoccupied house. Breaking a window to gain entry, Magdaleno then fondled and raped her, the girl told deputies.
Although she was threatened and warned against telling authorities, she reported the incident immediately, deputies said. The girl identified a photo of Magdaleno and was examined by doctors, who confirmed the rape, deputies said. She was also treated for numerous minor cuts and bruises, authorities said.
Magdaleno is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail, and will also face charges for violating his parole, Le May said.
