More wildfires exploded in brushlands on Tuesday as fierce Santa Ana winds pushed flames through the Southland. Here is an update of those fires as of Tuesday night.

Controlled: When a fire’s perimeter is no longer expanding.

Containment: Usually accompanied by a percentage, is used to describe how much of a fire is surrounded--although it is still burning.

LOS ANGELES COUNTY

Calabasas/Malibu

* Location: Started in Calabasas and moved along a five-mile front in a southwestern direction toward the ocean in Malibu.

* Acres: 20,000

* Damage: 50 to 100 structures damaged or destroyed.

* Cause: Unknown

* Status: Out of control

* Firefighters: 3,000, with another 2,000 on their way.

* Injuries: Two residents in critical condition; three firefighters slightly hurt.

* Evacuations: 2,000 people

RIVERSIDE COUNTY

Banning

* Location: San Gorgonio and Repplier Roads

* Acres: 8,000

* Damage: Four homes and one barn destroyed and damage to two homes, 11 storage buildings and one trailer.

* Cause: Arcing power lines.

* Status: Out of control and burning northwest toward Bogart Park at the north end of Cherry Valley.

* Firefighters: 1,000

* Injuries: Six residents, most with second-degree burns.

* Evacuations: More than 2,000 people from Cherry Valley area.

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY

Yucaipa

* Location: Oak Glen

* Acres: 55

* Damage: No structures damaged.

* Cause: Arson

* Status: 100% contained

* Injuries: None

* Firefighters: 175

* Evacuations: None

SAN DIEGO COUNTY

Poway

* Location: East of Rancho Bernardo

* Acres: 1,500

* Damage: No structures damaged.

* Cause: Under investigation.

* Status: 60% contained.

* Injuries: None

* Firefighters: More than 100

* Evacuations: Unknown

VENTURA COUNTY

Green Meadow/Thousand Oaks

* Location: East of Mulholland and Pacific Coast Highways.

* Acres: 700

* Damage: No structures.

* Cause: Arson

* Status: Last week’s fire in the Thousand Oaks/Malibu area was 100% contained until the wind shifted and a spot fire jumped Mulholland Highway on Tuesday.

* Injuries: None

* Firefighters: 1,325

* Evacuations: Unknown

OTHER

Among the hot spots that flared up Tuesday but were considered 100% contained by evening were Ortega Highway, Altadena and Laguna Beach.
