Pop Album Chart : Too Short Proves That He Fits In

Share

The latest rapper to bust into the Top 10 the first week out is Too Short, with “Get In Where Ya Fit In,” which debuted at No. 4. Will it last more than a week or two in the Top 10? Observers guess that it won’t but it’s hard to gauge: Look at what happened with gangsta rapper Eazy-E. He fooled the detractors who predicted a quick exit from the Top 10 for his “It’s On (Dr. Dre) 187um Killa,” which entered at No. 5 last week and dropped just two notches this week. “Strictly for My N.I.G.G.A.Z” by gangsta rapper Tupac Shakur (who calls himself 2Pac on the album) is on the rise a few days after he was allegedly involved in a shooting in Atlanta. It moved up four notches to No. 41. Tevin Campbell’s “I’m Ready” debuted at No. 18. Meat Loaf’s “I’d Do Anything for Love” continues to hog the top spot on the pop singles chart.

* 10,000 Maniacs is the latest group to board that “MTV Unplugged” gravy train, with an album that entered the chart at No. 13. Since lead singer-songwriter Natalie Merchant has announced she’s leaving the group, this is one of the band’s last projects, making the fans covet it even more.
